Sylphrena
The Indomitable Knight
"Death is lighter than a feather;
Duty, heavier than a mountain."
To be reborn is no small thing. To begin anew despite the failures of the past. So it was with her. So it would ever be so long as she continued to press on, seeking to right injustices and defend the weak. She had been betrayed, and in turn betrayed those she thought of as closest to her.She abandoned those ties that sought to drown her with their empty platitudes, and false promises. Her grief and her rage brought her to the lowest point that she might rebuild herself, block by block to become better than she was.To abandon everything and everyone, save for her unerring sense of duty. But she would be a lapdog no longer. She would rise above those that brought her low, so as to look towards a brighter future.
"The most difficult battles are fought within."
The process of reforging herself was long and arduous. Her Master had warned her of the dangers she would face if she allowed her emotions to burn too hotly in the flame. When she had first started on the path, she was but a girl.Now she was a woman grown. Truest mastery of the path would mean that she could no longer hold herself back. She would need to master herself, master her feelings. Not suppress them.It began in Gyr Abania, where ascetic monks had long professed mastery over the self. Their order had been ruined, but it too was rebuilding. She returned to the East, to listen to the words of wizened sages. Across the star she travelled, and with each journey, she came one step closer to her goal.
"We will bear the weight of our mistakes, not with guilt, but with footsteps heavy with purpose."
When the skies rained fire, she took up her blade once more. Her training had been complete. Renewed in purpose, renewed in oath, she began down the path once again. She did not take up the name of her tribes. She did not tell past comrades that she lived.Unburdened by these expectations, she marched ever onward. And though she looked forward, the weight of the past could not be so easily shaken. Mistakes made would catch up to her. There were those who would demand she pay for them. But she would not be deterred. Ever indomitable was her spirit, ever implacable was her purpose.
